Kris Holliday's Bio

Kris Holliday
Director of Special Education

Kris Holliday joined Alamo Heights ISD in 1997,  and she has enjoyed every day of it!  She began her education in Wisconsin and later transferred to Texas and graduated from Richardson High School in Dallas.  She attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas and began her teaching career in the Anderson County Special Education Cooperative.  She taught in a special education self-contained classroom in Frankston, Texas, was the visiting teacher for a student who was living in the country in Anderson County, Texas, a resource teacher in Slocum, Texas and the homebound teacher for a student in Palestine, Texas all at the same time!  What a wonderful experience at special education and the various needs of all the different students.

In August of 1976, she moved to San Antonio and took a job with the Judson ISD as a resource teacher at the middle school.  After several years, she became the department chair for special education on campus (as well as the cheerleading and dance sponsor!) and then a supervisor for special education for the district.  She attended Texas State University and received her master’s degree in Education Administration in 1988.  In 1990, she became the director of special education for the Judson ISD.  After 20 years in Judson ISD, she moved to Alamo Heights ISD.

She is married to Jacob and has 3 children:  Colton, Katie and Leah.  She enjoys tennis, golf and going to the ranch in East Texas and Lake LBJ to “get away”.

She believes in meeting the children’s needs first,  and considers it a challenge to solve new ways to help students to succeed in school and go on to be successful adults in our community
