Other Board Action and Presentations

Trustees heard a request that was previously approved by the Superintendent for a trip to the JROTC Service Championships in Anniston, Alabama in February. The request was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Victor Diaz.

Dr. Dana Bashara, Superintendent, presented 2025 Budget Recommendations. Planning for 2025 is based on 2019 allocations as there has been no additional funding by the Legislature. While there is hope that some additional dollars will be allocated to public education this Legislative Session, the District must prepare now for next year’s budget with reductions. The recommendations to the Board came after input by the Budget Advisory Council and District staff. The goal was to reduce the budget by $5 million. Download this one-page flyer on Budget Considerations for more information for the staff and community.

Trustees approved a revision to local policy FFAC (Medical Treatment).

Donations were accepted from: the Mule Team and multiple donors for Athletics and Michael Elrod. The accepted donations totaled $33,296.25.

Trustees accepted reports from the Budget, Goals and Priorities, and Assessment and Long Range Planning committees.

Alamo Heights ISD will hold an election May 3, 2025 for Place 1, Place 2, and Place 4 Board positions. David Hornberger (Place 1) and Hunter Kingman (Place 4) have announced their intent to file for election. Brian Hamilton (Place 2) announced that he will not be seeking re-election.
