Eligibility for Advanced Degree Stipends (Effective September 1, 2013)
Professional employees (not administrators) will be eligible for advanced degree stipends based on the following criteria:
TIER I
- If employee has a Master’s Degree with a major or specialization in their current assignment, Curriculum and Instruction (Teaching), or Instructional/Educational Technology, then the employee is eligible for an annual stipend of $1,800.
- If employee has a Doctorate Degree with a major or specialization in their current assignment, Curriculum and Instruction (Teaching), or Instructional/Educational Technology, then the employee is eligible for an additional annual stipend of $1,500.
A Tier 1 example could be a HS Math Teacher with a master’s degree in Mathematics or Curriculum & Instruction (Teaching) or Instructional/Educational Technology.
A Tier 1 example could be a Fifth Grade Teacher with a master’s degree in Elementary Education or Curriculum and Instruction (Teaching).
A Tier 1 example could be a Special Education Teacher with a master’s degree in Special Education or Instructional/Educational Technology.
OR
TIER II
- If employee has a Degree (Master’s or Doctorate) with a major or specialization from a College of Education, then the employee is eligible for an annual stipend of $800.
A Tier 2 example could be a HS Science Teacher with a master’s degree in Administrative Leadership from a College of Education.
A Tier 2 example could be a Sixth Grade Teacher with a master’s degree in Educational Administration from a College of Education.
OR
TIER III
- If employee has an advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in any area, then the employee is eligible for an annual stipend of $400.
A Tier 3 example could be a HS History Teacher with a master’s degree in Business Administration from a College of Business source.
A Tier 3 example could be a Fifth Grade Teacher with a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from a College of Business source.
Note: An employee can only qualify for stipend on one tier.
