Dear AHISD Families-

December is a joyful and busy time in Alamo Heights ISD, filled with celebrations, traditions, and opportunities to come together as a community. From festive classroom holiday parties to winter performances and service projects, this season reminds us of the joy and generosity that define AHISD. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has come together to support families in need of extra support this season through campus holiday angel efforts. There truly is no place like Alamo Heights ISD!

Holiday Concerts

I hope you’ll join me in getting in the holiday spirit by attending a concert or performance featuring our talented Fine Arts students at all campuses. These events are open to the community and start this week. Visit our AHISD website for a schedule of holiday performances these next few weeks. I promise every performance will leave you inspired, feeling festive, and so proud to be part of our Alamo Heights ISD community.

Fall Feedback Survey Tidbits

Stakeholder feedback at all levels is essential to our growth. Through our Community-Based Accountability System, we value input to help us celebrate what’s working and identify where we can improve—always with the AHISD Profile of a Learner at the center.

This fall, students in grades 3–12 shared feedback on expectations, belonging, school climate, and safety. Their insights led to meaningful campus improvements, including stronger classroom routines, expanded student leadership opportunities, and increased connection on our campuses. You can read a summary of the student feedback.

Tuition and ECHS Applications Open

Applications open for our Early College High School this week This will be the third cohort of students in the program. ECHS offers students an opportunity to graduate with both a high school diploma and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in just four years. Applications will remain open until January 30, 2026 for rising ninth graders and are available on the AHHS website.

Tuition applications for the 2026-27 school year also open this week. Some of you may not know, but AHISD has offered a tuition option for more than two decades. Visit the Tuition website for more information and the forms needed to submit a tuition application. I encourage you to share this information with friends, family, and neighbors who would be interested in the wonderful learning opportunities in Alamo Heights ISD but do not live within the district boundaries.

Bond Updates

Have you noticed anything different driving down Broadway the last few weeks? (Something is missing!) The tower crane that dominated the construction at Alamo Heights HS for more than a year was disassembled and removed which means that great progress has been made and we are on schedule to open the new building for the 2026-2027 school year.

Portables were delivered to Woodridge Elementary a couple of weeks ago. Beginning in January, fifth graders will relocate to the portables for the second semester while construction begins on the fifth grade hallway. We’re excited for larger classrooms for fifth grade, and the completion of the project in time for Fall 2026.

Over the Thanksgiving Break, some remaining hallway work was completed at Woodridge and Cambridge. There were some items on order after the classroom refreshes were completed in August, and crews waited until the Thanksgiving Break to cause minimal disruption for students and staff.

I appreciate the patience and flexibility of our staff, students, and families as the transformation of AHISD continues! I’m very excited for what 2026 will bring at our campuses as we near completion on additional projects.

On Location- Sports Media

I invite you to watch my latest edition of On Location which highlights our Sports Media team at AHHS. During football season, if you were in the stands at Orem Stadium watching replays or at home watching the livestream, these were the talented students and new-to-AHISD teacher sharing all the action. I’m so proud that we provide real world learning opportunities like these for our students.

Mule Pride- Friday Night Lights

Our Varsity Mule Football Team has advanced in the playoffs to the state quarter finals! Please plan to show up to the Alamo Stadium to cheer them on to victory against Boerne on Friday night at 7 p.m. Mules fans are asked to wear AH blue to the game. You can purchase tickets through the SAISD website.
