Alamo Heights ISD is pleased to welcome Gerrie Spellman as the new principal of Woodridge Elementary.

Spellmann comes to Alamo Heights from Judson ISD where she served as principal at Copperfield Elementary School, opening the campus in 2013 and leading the team for the past 4 years.

Spellmann’s experiences include serving as Teacher, Team Leader, RTI Teacher, Academic Dean, Assistant Principal and Principal. With 23 years of experience, 17 of which were in leadership roles, Spellmann brings a variety of skills and experiences that will support the work of the Woodridge team and encourage new endeavors for students and teachers.

Spellmann also serves as the regional president of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) for Region 20 ESC, an organization whose hallmark is educational leaders learning with and from each other.

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kevin Brown, shared that Gerrie has been described as a dynamic and innovative leader who has great rapport with all. “I am excited to welcome Gerrie to Woodridge and Alamo Heights. She is a dedicated, passionate leader with exceptional communication and organizational skills.  She is beloved by her staff, students and community, and will be a great leader for Woodridge Elementary for years to come.”

Spellmann is excited to join the Alamo Heights family, sharing, “I am looking forward to developing and fostering relationships with my new colleagues and families at Woodridge and in the district. I believe relationships are core to a successful school culture and I look forward to meeting everyone and to begin working together.”

She is set to begin her new role at Woodridge in July.
