Community Safety

In October 2018, AHISD hosted three Community Safety Meetings. We promised to summarize the content of those meetings and the feedback that was provided as a result of community participation. As we move forward with the ongoing process for planning, we will continue to rely on the systems and structures in place through leadership teams that consist of our District Education Advisory Council (DEAC), our school safety Administrative team and our Board of Trustees to help guide decisions that we make along the way in the best interest of our students and staff. We will continue to include our AHISD school community in conversations periodically through forums like campus (SBDM) Site Based Decision Making teams, PTO meetings, as well as larger community meetings like the ones we just hosted.

We encourage all parents and community members to participate fully in the multiple opportunities we host to provide additional resources and information through events like our AHISD Parent Symposiums, and Breaking the Silence events. We know that the very first layer of school safety begins with our students’ social and emotional wellness. Parent engagement with the many resources that our district provides is an excellent way to ensure that AHISD continues to maintain safety and security for the school community. We are especially grateful for those stakeholders who were able to participate in one of the three sessions offered.
