Alamo Heights ISD is committed to keeping the community informed about the work of the Board of Trustees. This board summary highlights the action and recognitions from the latest Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees.


Recognitions


School Board Recognition Month

January is School Board Recognition Month. The AHISD Board of Trustees was recognized and thanked for their dedication and service to the District. 


Powering the Profile

Todd Dorgan, AP Geography Teacher at AHHS, was recognized for Powering the Profile for embodying the AHISD Profile of a Learner. Visit the AHISD YouTube channel for a video showing how he encourages students to “engage socially and globally.” 


TMEA All-State

Two AHHS Fine Arts students were selected to the Texas Music Educators Association, or TMEA, All-State Ensembles. Senior Andrew Krause was selected for percussion and senior Julian Mendoza was selected for oboe. 


All-State recognition is the highest public school award for individual achievement in music that a student can receive and represents the top student musicians in Texas. They will perform with the 5A All-State Band next month at the TMEA Clinic/Convention here in San Antonio. Band directors are Michael Misko, Matt Moreno, and Troy Chester.


Student Council Update

AHHS Student Council President Veer Patel and Vice President Lindsey Lam shared an update with Trustees.

Trustees approved local policies from a Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) policy update (126), based on legislation from the 89th Regular Legislative Session. Trustees approved the naming of the High School Second Story Library Alcove as Al and Carol Olson Library Alcove, a High School English Classroom as the Kay and Peter Hollimon Classroom, and the High School Athletics Office as the Wyatt Thistle Athletic Office in recognition of gifts to the Alamo Heights School Foundation Endowment. 


Donations were accepted from: Karen Hasty; L-C Concrete Inc.; Cambridge PTO; and Michael Elrod. The accepted donations totaled $98,342.72.


Trustees accepted reports from the Policy, Building, Goals and Priorities, and Assessment and Long Range Planning committees.


Alamo Heights ISD will hold an election May 2, 2026 for Place 3 and Place 4 Board positions. Mr. Ty Edwards, Place 3 and Mr. Hunter Kingman, Place 4, are both seeking re-election.
