Substitute Teachers Century Club
The AHISD Substitute Century Club recognizes substitutes who completed 100 (or more) assignments during a school year. The group of 20 individuals represent just 10% of the total substitute pool, yet their combined efforts filled nearly 2,500 classroom openings during the 2025-26 school year.
They are: Michelle Arroyo, Blanca Castillo, Hillary Cuellar, Robert Delgado, Angelina Dosser, Holly Hindt, Ronald Jentsch, Carrie Jobe, Cynthia Joeriz, Kathleen Kraus, Melina Lopez, Elfi Naehrig, Patricia Ramirez, Andres Rangel, Sally Reese, Mary Rodriguez, Sonya Sanchez, Julia Sepeda, Kandis Shugart, and James Tally.

Trustees adopt 2026-27 Budget
Trustees adopted a 2026-2027 General Fund budget of $69,510,634, representing a 4.8% decrease from the 2025-2026 General Fund budget. Additionally, annual budgets of $1,242,366 for Food Service and $24,315,478 for Debt Service were also adopted.
The Board of Trustees also reviewed the budget and tax rate adoption calendar with the proposed tax rate hearing on the schedule for September 2026. Funding per student has changed very little from 2025-2026 to 2026-2027. Per student revenues for the General Fund and Debt Service Fund changed from $19,845 per student to $19,861 per student. Per student expenses for the General Fund and Debt Service Fund changed from $19,768 per student to $19,815 per student. Funding for a one-time retention payment to all full-time staff has also been included in the budget as well as market adjustments for those positions below the market median. Information regarding the 2026-2027 budget adoption was presented by Matt Streger, Chief Financial Officer.
Trustees received an annual report on 2025-2026 Facility Rentals and approved rental fees for 2026-2027. They approved the 2026-27 Education Service Center (ESC) Region 20 Commitment Forms. They approved a waiver for Foreign Exchange Programs, the membership of the 2026-27 District Education Advisory Council (DEAC), and the 2026-27 professional development plan.
Trustees also approved the annual payment to the College Board for standardized testing instruments, a legal retainer agreement with Walsh Gallegos, and Non-Chapter 21 Contract Roles.
They also approved revisions to local policies BJCF, CAA, DC, DH, DP, DPA, DPB, and EHBB.
Trustees adopted a resolution to modify bank depository signers in light of changing roles on the Board of Trustees.
Trustees approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Package 2 of construction at Alamo Heights Junior School, which consists of the structural steel scope of work.
Trustees approved the naming of the Dexter Bell Classroom at Cambridge Elementary, the Meabon Family Library Study Room at AHHS, and the Marceau Family Classroom at AHHS in recognition of gifts to the Alamo Heights School Foundation endowment.
Donations were accepted from: Alamo Heights School Foundation, Alamo Heights PTSO, Alamo Heights Little League, and Howard PTO. The accepted donations totaled $2,324,852.58.
Trustees accepted reports from the Building, Goals and Priorities, and Assessment and Long Range Planning committees.
