State Cross Country Qualifiers
Last month, cross country athletes competed at the state meet in Round Rock.The boys team and individual qualifier Avery Brawner represented AHISD this year. Congratulations to our athletes and Coach Brian Ricketts and Assistant Coach Bardo Brambila.
Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Hall of Honor Award
Chris Sharp, AHHS varsity girls soccer coach was inducted into the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Hall of Honor last month.
Student Council Update
Jiya Patel, Vice President, gave the AHHS Student Council update to Trustees.
Other Board Action and Presentations
Dr. Jimmie Walker, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, and Matthew Streger, Chief Financial Officer, presented a report on Pillar VII of the Community Based Accountability System which is focused on fiscal and operational systems.Eighty eight percent of the AHISD budget is allocated to payroll for staff. Thirty seven million dollars was sent back to the state in the form of recapture.
Trustees approved the 2022-23 Financial Audit completed by Armstrong, Vaughan, and Associates, PC.
As required by state law, a public hearing was held for the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). FIRST is the state’s financial accountability rating system. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes. AHISD received a “Superior Achievement” rating based on 2021-22 data.
Trustees approved the renewal of the District of Innovation plan for 2024-2030.
Trustees approved the purchase of 360 Dell Chromebooks and the required educational licensing per device. These devices will refresh/replace the current devices (iPads) in the Alamo Heights Junior School Math Department.
Trustees heard about three requests that were previously approved by the Superintendent: a high school student trip to Cheer Team UCA Nationals in February 2023; a Junior School student trip to Washington D.C. and New York in June 2024; and a high school student trip to National Dance Alliance Competition in Orlando in March 2024.
Donations were accepted from: Alamo Heights School Foundation; The Guitar Dojo; Howard PTO; Alamo Heights Mule Team; and multiple donors for miscellaneous athletics items. The accepted donations totaled $173,534.31.
Trustees accepted reports from the Goals and Priorities, Policy, Communications and Assessment and Long-Range Planning committees; and the Alamo Heights School Foundation Board.
