We encourage parents to update and verify their contact information every year and anytime there is a change.

Back to School Reminders

Health Screening Information:

Parents, back to school is a busy time of year for everyone! We begin our screenings for height, weight vision, hearing and acanthosis in the clinics, early during the fall semester. The Texas Department of State and Health Services requires that we screen Pre-K, Kinder, 1st, 3rd, 5th & 7th grade students as well as any new students.

We also screen any child that was retained and did not move forward to the aforementioned grades. When a child fails two screenings, a referral letter will be sent home with the student. We are required to complete spinal screenings in the fall as well, and your campus nurse will send home notification prior to this screening. This applies to 5th & 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys.

If you have any questions, please call your campus nurse.

Sixth Graders Going into Seventh Grade Immunizations:

The Texas Department of State Health Services requires that seventh grade students receive a Tdap booster and the first dose of Meningococcal (MCV4). Some seventh grade students will need a second dose of Varicella, MMR or Hepatitis A.

Please check your student’s immunization record, consult with your Pediatrician or call Nurse Whitney Jones at the Junior School to verify what your child may need. Once your child receives these vaccinations, obtain a copy of the vaccination(s) with the date, child’s name and clinic stamp or physician’s signature. Please email a copy to Mrs. Jones or fax to 210-832-5825, attention Mrs. Jones.
