Summer at Heights Drop Off

Due to AHISD construction, drop off and pickup will take place this year at the front side of Alamo Heights Junior School. Please enter at the first entrance on North New Braunfels (look for the SAH flag), follow the traffic flow, and exit properly. As you leave the school, it is a right turn only for the safety of our students and families.

Please do not drop off children more than 15 minutes prior to the start of their course. We appreciate your patience during arrival and dismissal as we safely greet and dismiss students.

We highly suggest you drop off/pick up via car in our drive-through line. If you wish to park and walk up, we request that families part in designated spots near the Fine Arts Building. The Summer at Heights staff will be outside greeting families and helping students to a holding spot before SAH staff walks students to their individual classes. Several programs are taking place at the Junior School this summer.

Howard Location

PLEASE NOTE: We will have a small number of classes that will NOT be held at Junior School; they will be located at Howard. The campus phone number is (210) 832-5900 and the SAH number is (210) 832-5888.

These Howard classes are: Around the World Adventures, Astro Adventures, Barbie World, Buddy Builders, Camp Kindergarten, Dive into Disney, First Grade Ready, New Heights Soccer, I’m Bored, Pet Pals, Santa Takes a Vacation, Dinosaur Roar & Glow, Liquid Labs, Sparkle & Style, H2O Oh my Goodness Splash Camp, Curious Creatures & Experiments Galore.

Transportation will be provided to FULL DAY participants who are switching campuses between their AM & PM courses and for lunch. Parents should drop off their child off in the AM location and pick their child up in the PM location (unless enrolled in before or after camp care). Bus transportation for AM classes at Howard ECC is only available to students enrolled in BEFORE CARE.

We highly suggest you drop off/pick up via car in our drive-through line. If you wish to park and walk up, we request families park in the designated spots on Lorenz. The Summer at Heights staff will be outside greeting families and helping students. The SAH staff will walk students to their classes. Howard SAH teachers can help you with procedures on the 1st day of classes.  SAH staff will be out greeting/ gathering students on the Lorenz side of the building near the front of the building. You are welcome to use the drop-off area on Lorenz.

If your student is attending classes at Howard Early Childhood Center and you need to pick up early or drop off late, you will need to go to the Howard front office (located on the Broadway side of the building), and the office staff will help get your child to or from class.

Extended Care Program

The Extended Care Program provides care for children enrolled in the Summer at Heights program before and after our Summer classes (7:30 - 9 a.m.) and (4 - 5:30 p.m.) in the Junior School Cafeteria area and in the Girls Gym.

There will be relaxed activities during these hours. This program is offered as a service to parents whose children are attending camps. We encourage parents to sign up in advance for our Extended Care Program, as space is limited. Late fees will be charged for any children picked up after 5:30 p.m.

BCC - Before Camp Care 7:30 - 9 a.m. June 1 - June 26 $40 Enroll Online
ACC - After Camp Care 4 - 5:30 p.m. June 1 - June 26 $40 Enroll Online

Lunch

Full participants must choose a lunch option for supervised care between classes. The Brown Bag Lunch option (bringing a sack lunch and drink) for $25/student per week OR our Summer at Heights weekly lunch plan for $45/student per week.

Registration for lunch options is only available to students that are signed up for morning and afternoon sessions.  If your child is a full day participant wanting to stay with us between courses, don’t forget to select a lunch option at the time of enrollment. Adding this option ensures your child has supervision between classes.

Download the Weekly Lunch Menu.

Snacks and Water

We recommend all students bring a refillable water bottle and snack. This is recommended, but not required. Please be sure to indicate any food allergies during online registration.

Cancellation

Registration may be canceled and fully refunded if made 21 days prior to the start of a class. If a class is canceled by the Summer at Heights Program for any reason, (e.g. insufficient enrollment) the tuition may be transferred to another class or refunded in full. Parents will be notified of cancellations the week prior to the class. If a class is canceled due to conditions beyond our control, (weather, state, or local health department) no refunds will be given.

Safety and Security

Summer at Heights is staffed with trained and certified personnel who monitor access to campus. We have access to a school nurse daily who administers prescribed medications and responds to medical emergencies. Any medication must be given to the school nurse housed in the Junior School main office. Our SAH nurse is Whitney Jones. SAH staff cannot keep medications for students.

The campus is closed to visitors and drop off/pick up will take place on the front side of The Junior School, off of N. New Braunfels. If you need to drop off/pick up your student at a different time, please email or call our office. SAH staff will assist in helping your student get to class or leave early if needed. The phone number is (210) 832-5888. (during lunch from 12 to 12:45 p.m. we are with students)

If your child is attending classes at Howard Early Childhood Center and you need to pick them up early or drop off late, go the Howard front office off of Broadway for assistance getting your child to or from class.

Age Requirement

Students must turn 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2026 and be potty-trained in order to attend Summer at Heights.

Absences

Discipline Policy

Parents of students displaying unacceptable or unsafe behavior will be notified immediately. The notification may result in removal from the SAH program with no refund.

Reminders

The registration fee is $35 per student, per year. This fee is not refundable.

Summer Clothing

Students should dress for comfort- we recommend t-shirts and shorts or long pants, as well as sneakers. Remember, some classes can be messy, and our summer temperatures are very warm.

Communication

SAH uses a system that will send text reminders and emails to families with important information and reminders for upcoming classes.

Lost and Found

SAH will maintain a lost and found throughout June. Please label all personal items, including lunch containers, water bottles, jackets, caps, etc. Do not bring any sentimental or valuable items to camp.
