To augment safety and security measures currently implemented in the district, Alamo Heights ISD partners with the City of Alamo Heights and the Alamo Heights Police Department to add School Resource Officers (SROs) to campuses.

Officer Brian McManis joined Alamo Heights ISD in December 2018 as the district’s first School Resource Officer located at Alamo Heights HS. He came with more than five years of SRO experience in Northside ISD, serving with distinction at O'Connor High School.

Officer Ruthilen Robles joined AHISD in November 2022 and serves as the district’s elementary campus officer. She previously worked for the City of Dallas and has been in law enforcement for more than 14 years.

Officer Cathleen Casals joined AHISD in August 2023 and serves as the SRO at Alamo Heights Junior School. Officer Casals previously served three years as a police officer with the UTSA police department. 

All three officers are able to respond to other AHISD campuses as needed.

The SRO is:

Someone who builds positive, strong relationships with students and staff and is another trusted adult on campus

A resource to protect students, staff, and the campus from outside intrusion

An officer who has received specialized training to be a School Resource Officer, has received peace officer training, and will comply with all confidentiality, privacy, and FERPA guidelines

The SRO is not:

A police presence for disciplinary purposes

An arm of school administration for discipline and behavior enforcement

An informant for the police department

Safety Concerns can also be reported anonymously to the District using this Google Form. Note: the form will not be monitored during student holidays, including Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break.

The intended purpose of reporting Safety Concerns is for the safety of students. Information may be submitted anonymously (i.e. bullying, cyber-bullying, illegal activity at school, or other safety concerns).
